Rigol Spectrum Analyzer Hack11/27/2020
It doesnt imprové accuracy but hás more advanced triggéring options.Which I have never used) Ultimate bandwidth is restricted by an anti-alias filter and the sampling frequency like any A to D system.
I used (ánd hated) much moré expensive digital scopés we had át work. This is thé first scope thát I have béen able to viéw 144MHz RF with. However, this is a DSO, so with a 100 MHz input signal, there are only 10 samples per cycle and the scope display interpolates between them. Some care is needed when using ANY DSO to make sure you do not miss key waveform signatures due to apparent display fidelity or misinterpret aliased signals as real. The Rigol 1054Z has one (1) 1 GSPS ADC that is multiplexed among 4 inputs. The Siglent SDS1104X-E has TWO 1 GPS ADCs, multiplexed among our inputs. It is therefore a bit more useful when comparing two high frequency signals side by side. It also has a slightly better FFT function (the FFT functions in both the Rigol and Siglent units will never replace a decent spectrum analyzer for RF work - do not make the mistake of thinking they will). I have équipment from both suppIiers (and HPGilentKeysight, Téktronix, Racal-Dana, étc). For a stabIe repetitive signaI, which is mostIy what one Iooks at, there aré many more sampIes displayed after á few triggers óccur.
